Irmgard Clark

Irmgard describes her excitement about leaving Germany to meet a Shanghai-bound ship in Italy. The German government restricted the amount of money that Jews could bring out of the country, as well as items like furniture and jewelry. She talks about her father's refusal to break the law and bring more items out of Germany than were permitted. She emphasizes her family's need to leave Germany to escape persecution for being Jewish.
